Cali day 5- San Diego

So we left Catalina on day 5 and drove to San Diego. So when we were planning to go to Cali origional we planned on going to San Diego. San Diego got bumped for Catalina but then we decided on the ferry ride from Catalina to go to San Diego anyway. So, we headed for San Diego. We stopped at Laguna Beach on our way and cooled off in the water. It was a really pretty beach. Joel dove in onto some rocks and banged up his knee and toe pretty bad.


We got to San Diego found the cheapest place to stay...go Motel 6 and went shopping for clothes for the next day. It was fun to be so spur of the moment.

Cali day 4- Catalina Island

We decided to got visit Catalina Island. Joel's Aunt Hope had talked it up so much we were ready for paradise. So, we got online and booked tickets on the ferry that takes you to the island and booked a room for the night. Joel wanted to miss traffic and get on the first ferry so we had to leave Ventura at 5 AM!!! I was not happy!!! We got to the port of departure and a car pulled up beside us. A cute young couple got out and asked Joel some questions. We got on the ferry just in time and set sail for Catalina. We both slept through the boat ride.

So the couple in the slide show we had dinner with was the couple we ran into at the port of departure. We kept running into them all day so we decided to hang out. We had so much fun with them. We went to dinner where Jay told us what is was like to be Adam Corolla's personal assistant. They were such a fun couple. They really made Catalina island fun.

Cali day 3- Santa Barbara

I LOVE Santa Barbara!!!! That is where Joel and I got engaged and i would really like to live there it is perfect!!! We went and checked out University of California- Santa Barbara's campus. I LOVED it!!! I told him to enroll so we could move out there. Unfortunately they don't have many doctorate programs so we won't be continuing Joel's education in Santa Barbara. We kinda relived our engagement. We went down to the beach at sunset and had a little romantic moment, Joel told me what he said when he proposed cuz i have never been able to remember...it was so tender. This lady was walking by so we asked her to take a picture of us. We told her she had to hold down the button for a second. She took one then insisted on taking a few more because the setting was so pretty. Turns out she was a professional. We were so excited!!! We checked the pictures and she had not taken 1 single picture. We thought it was funny that the professional did not take a picture. We tried to take some pictures ourselves.


Santa Barbara was not a planned trip for that day so my shorts were soaked form the beach so I'm wearing Joel's basketball shorts.

We always get ice cream when we are in Santa Barbara. We found this really pretty garden tucked behind some buildings so we stopped and enjoyed our ice cream there.

Cali day 2- El Matador Beach

Day 2 was Sunday. We slept in and missed church...oops. So, we decided to worship at the beach. We set out for Zumma beach but missed it. We ended up at El Matador beach which was really pretty, and really windy.





We got back from the beach got ready and went to dinner with some of Joel's family. I forgot to get a picture. We did get a pic with Grandma Ginny. Isn't she a cutie!!!

Cali day 1-Venice Beach

We left PG at 5 am on Saturday...that totally sucked!!! I thought our flight left at 7...it really left at 7:40 so we were really early to the airport. And we got on the plane with no problems. We went straight to one of our favorite places. Venice Beach. Where we took naps on the beach with all the hobos, I was soooo tired. We walked around saw some freaks and Joel bought me a really cute hat. After seeing all the weirdos we could we hit up the beach. Then it was on to our favorite hotel...Joel's Grandma Ginny's house. Its cheap and no reservation is required. We thought we were going to have to postpone the trip so we did not tell any of Joel's relatives in Cali that we were coming. Grandma Ginny got a call from Burbank telling her we were there for 8 days. Ooops. Good thing she loves surprises.
