Christmas 2008

What a great Christmas!!! Christmas Eve we had a family party at Joel's Grandma Hatch's house. It was fun to see everyone. We had a nativity performance. Jordan (the tall one) is a wise man not a pimp.

Christmas day i woke up to a pug puppy right outside our bedroom door. I was so excited to play with him as he grunted with delight. But, don't worry Joel hasn't gotten soft yet. We were staying at Joel's Dad's house and the puppy was being puppy sat there. It was still fun to play with. We left Joel's Dad's and headed to his Mom's to start the festivities. On our way down a huge hill we got stuck in a snow drift. Joel ran back up the hill in his basketball shorts to his Dad's to get a shovel while i stayed in the car. This really, really nice guy stopped to tow us out of the snow. It took this nice guy his son and 2 daughters about an hour to pull us out of the drift. Luckily i had some banana bread in the car to thank them with. In the process of getting the car out out of the snow the heater/defroster broke. So we drove around all weekend in a freezing car wiping the windshield with a t-shirt so we could see. We hung out at Joel's Mom's for a while where the power was out. We Elder Jaron Meyer, Joel's youngest brother, who is cleaning up Alabama one sinner at a time. Then we went to my families house. I got the cutest dress for my niece to wear this year and my little girl to wear next year. She is the only one i took pictures of on Christmas...oops. I was a little tired.

She is a little over a year old can you believe all that hair. She was so fun to watch. This dress is straight off of White Christmas. Can't wait to see my baby-G in it next year. It really was a great Christmas...except for the snow!

On Saturday my sisters and mom hosted a family baby shower for us. It was a lot of fun. We played some fun games and had a really tasty lunch. We did the thing where everyone cuts a string to guess how big my belly was. My Mom and Joel's Grandma's strings were the exact same length and only long by an inch and a half. My mother in laws string was about 3 feet too long. I guess we know who loves me. I forgot to take pictures of the party. Here are some of the earlier guests.

Me, my older sis Anjanette, my Mom and my little sis Megan.

My unofficial family. Brittan Black and Laurie Ransom.

Me with Janet and Jamie, Joel's mom and little sister.

It was such a fun long weekend and i was so glad to get home on Sunday. Joel has been doing internet research to fix the heater/defroster in the car so keep your fingers crossed.

Three years ago today Joel knelt on the beach at sunset and asked me to marry him. I am so glad i said yes. We had spent the day in Santa Barbara riding a tandem bike and seeing the sights. We stopped and got some ice cream and then road down the boardwalk at sunset. I was so surprised when he proposed. He had had the ring in his pocket all day. It was the perfect day and the perfect way to purpose...for us anyway. I love going back to Santa Barbara and reliving that moment.

Tonight we celebrate with a bottle of Martinelle's (left over from the ward party). I wish we were on the beach to celebrate. How time flies when your in love. Here is to 3 more years!!!

Festivis

Last weekend Michelle and Justin we in town from St. Louis. We were lucky enough to get to hand out this time. Kevin and Lindsey Brown hosted the second Festivis party. It was really funny. We told our grievances over dinner and had a true white elephant which included a #10 can of butterscotch pudding that was about 10 years old. The pudding was not even brown any more but a pinkish color, of course Joel had to try it. The funniest part of the night is when i suggested we make a pyramid and everyone did it, i laughed so hard i thought i was going to cry. It was a GREAT night!!!

This was our feat of strength.

Award winning

Friday night was the annual ward chili cook off. As many of you know Joel makes a mean chili so he decided to enter the competition and WON!!! We are so proud. He beat out this girl in our ward that always brags about how good her cooking is. Here is a picture of the awesome award. We have it displayed in our front room if you want to come check it out in person.

Unfortunately, I was not at the chili cook off. I was at Twilight!!! It was sooo good. I was totally prepared to hate the movie because i thought Edward was ugly and i did not think a movie could live up to what i pictured in my head. I want to go see it again. So, my friend Brittan's friend reserved a theater at the Gateway for a Friday night show. We were told we could not line up till 7:15. I got to the Gateway at 5:20ish and spent 20 min trying to find somewhere to park. We had a little dinner at CPK and headed to the theater at 7:05. The line for our theater was huge. We were so annoyed. People had been standing in line since 6:30. I was not willing to have a bad seat for the movie when we were told we could not line up till 7:15 so I went and talked to the manager. He said he was very sorry that they had to let them line up early to clear out the lobby. I said that was fair but since i was pregnant could he move me to the front of the line. That's right i played the pregnant card. Needless to say i was the first one in the theater and saved some killer seats for the girls i was with. The good seats made up for all the death glares i got walking into the theater ahead of the people that had been standing in line for an hour. Ha Ha HA!!! I was also the first to win the raffle that night, I should have driven to Vegas. Man i was feeling lucky. I recommend everyone go see Twilight!!!

Mission accomplished

Most couple spend Saturday night on a date going to dinner or a movie...not the Meyer's. Tonight we cleaned out the garage and organized all the junk. We have been meaning to texture the walls, paint, and organize all summer but never got around to it. It is too cold to texture and paint now so that will have to wait till next year...maybe. But, we did get shelving up and things organized so we can park both cars in the garage.

That is right two 6' shelves full of protein 2 cans deep. Can we check food storage off our list?

Joel loves our garage floor. He epoxied it himself and even put two toned lines in it. The epoxy is really nice cuz it doesn't stain and washes really well. Joel about an hour washing the garage floor...what ever makes him happy right.

All cleaned out and ready for cars. Now we have to clean out the front room. Why when you clean out one area does another area end up messier. I have 3 boxes of supplements sitting in my front room and 2 more by the computer to put on ksl.

They both fit...barely. Can anyone believe i STILL have that truck? I think it should be the next thing to go on ksl. It is 15 years old and sill runs like a champ!!!

Trimester #3

So i was sitting in American Fork Hospital this morning waiting for them to draw my blood and I realized that today is the last day of my second trimester!!! Yeah!!! This pregnancy is going by so fast. I can't wait to see me little girl and start dressing her in cute outfits. So, tomorrow i start my third trimester which for some reason feels like a big pregnancy milestone. I feel like celebrating...good thing we have big plans to clean and organize the garage tomorrow, yeah!

Crib

We bought a beautiful crib about a month ago and finally had a chance to put it up tonight. I got a steal on it from a furniture manufacturer that was going out of business in Orem. I spent about 3 hours Saturday night shopping for nursery bedding fabric with my patient mom and sister. Once we got the crib set up i realized that the fabric and bedding that we had picked out would not work with this crib. There is nowhere to put a bed skirt. So we are back to square one with baby bedding. So i now have beautiful fabric for my mom to make her another baby quilt and i get to decorate the nursery again...sounds like a win win to me. It is so fun to be a mom!

Jordan's Wedding

Joel's little brother, Jordan (Meyer boy #4), got married on Friday. It was such a fun long day. They got married at the SLC temple. While we were waiting for the bride and groom to come out of the temple a couple of Andra's (bride) family members thought that Joel was Jordan and could not figure out where he left the bride. Joel got mistaken for Jordan all day long, it was so funny. They do look a lot alike but Joel is definitely the cuter of the two.

Jordan and Andra Meyer, happy couple

3 of the 5 Meyer boys

The luncheon was at Tucano's, one of Joel's favorite places. Here he is at the luncheon eating all he can.

The reception was at Andra's step grandma's house. It was AMAZING!!! The house was huge and so gorgeous!! I should have taken more pictures but it just wasn't doing the house justice. Just take my word for it. It was cool. Here is the cake. It was frosted orange with chocolate shavings. I love all the funky cakes lately.

Joel's little sister was our buddy all day long. She gets really clingy at weddings, she kept hugging us. She is so cute. In the second picture, she was actually taking a picture of Joel and I when some really helpful man walked by and told her so go sit with her parents and he would take a family picture...how rude!! I am not old enough to have an 11 year old kid!!

Nursery art

So, I found these prints and LOVE them. I want to get some to hang up in the nursery but can't decide which ones. Give me your opinion. I really love the giraffe, zebra, monkey, lion, hippo and pig, but they are all soooo cute. They are 12"x12" without a frame so with a mat and frame they could be like 19"x19". Would 6 be too much? We have a big blank wall. Let me know what you think. Would 4 be better? And which ones do you like?

American Fork Canyon

I can not believe that we live so close to American Fork Canyon and have never been there. It is BEAUTIFUL!!! The trees are all changing and beautiful and the back of Timp has snow on it. We went for a little hike and tried to take some pictures. I learned a very valuable lesson...baggy hoodies and baby bumps make for bad pictures. What was i thinking!!!

Bentley

What a fun weekend. We puppy-sat our neighbors dog Bentley Wed through Sunday. Joel loves this little dog. He was fun to have around for the weekend. Joel says he doesn't like dogs but I thing Bentley got more kisses and cuddle time than i did this weekend.

22 week Baby Bump

Well here is my 22 week baby bump. We took a picture at 20 weeks and you could barely tell i had a tummy. I feel like during the past week my tummy just popped out. I guess our little girl needed some more room. I love reminding Joel that my belly is only going to get BIGGER!!!

It's a GIRL!!!!!

Well, Joel and I are in shock right now. We found out we were pregnant in early June and thought for sure it was a boy. After all Joel has 4 brothers and 3 nephews. Well, we are breaking the boy streak. We went in for out 20 week appointment at the doctors office today and I was so excited and anxious to find out if it was really a boy. Our little girl wasted no time showing us what she has got. We got a picture of her leg and then she pressed her little hinny right up to the ultra sound probe legs wide open. The tech was snapping the picture when i exclaimed it has to be a girl and Joel agreed. We looked at the screen and saw this...

No question...this is a girl.

Here are a couple more from our baby-g's first photo shoot. The tech said she looks very healthy...bonus she does not have a cleft lip or club feet.

We can't wait to see baby-g in February. She is due Feb 13th which is fun cuz my birthday is Feb 12th and Joel's is Feb 19th. I keep telling her to be born Feb 5th...we will have to see if she listens.

The look for less...

You know how magazines and Hollywood sleeze shows always tell you how to get the Hollywood look for less. Well i had one of those moments the other day. A couple of weeks ago i was I was shopping with my gal pal Brittan Black when i fell in LOVE with this yellow shirt at the Buckle. On Friday i ran into Old Navy to get some stuff for Joel's little sister who is in 6th grade this year and found a similar yellow shirt to the one from the buckle. So, I had to get the yellow shirt so i could post this blog on the look for less.

Long sleeve Buckle shirt $26.00

Similar Old Navy shirt $5.99
I still love the Buckle shirt more but, it was fun to have a "look for less" moment to share. Photos by Joel G. Meyer.

Joel's new wheels

We got the truck fixed just in time to have the Passat break. We were driving home form Ogden a few weeks ago when all of a sudden the car shuts off on the freeway right before the Centerville off ramp. Thanks to Joel's brother's girlfriend's dad we got the car towed to a mechanic. Much to our horror the mechanic told us the timing belt broke. We were in shock...we paid to have the timing belt replaced last March. The mechanic said the car still had the original timing belt on. The car has 145,000 miles so the timing belt had lasted a long time. Needless to say we are livid with the mechanic that we paid last March to change it. So, for the past 2 weeks 6 foot 7 in, 250 lbs Joel has been riding this to and from work.

It is even funnier in person. His best time is 9 min 43 seconds. It takes 6 min in a car. LOL!!!!
